John King

Growing up in a large family of 10 in Brooklyn, New York, John grew up with the dream of being a professional athlete, whilst playing street ball. Always chasing a high level of competition, it wasn’t long before John began improving his skills which led him to playing in his first organised team in middle school, despite being cut twice from his elementary school team.

In middle school John immediately began to attract eyes of coaches where he first joined his AAU team which went undefeated. He then attended High School in Brooklyn and from there went on to play college basketball. He played at Binghamton University, Division 1, until he unfortunately suffered a knee injury that forced him to sideline for the remainder of his senior year and the following season, which delayed his desire to go professional.

Shortly after college, John began training with former teammates and opponents that had made the transition to the professional ranks, picking up training opportunities with professional teams and athletes when presented. This process was extremely challenging and long. However, after grinding through 2 years of hardship, John finally got his first professional break, playing in China and Germany. Later making the move to Australia and in his first season, he managed to help win his first championship with his Ansett club. Then, he continued to play across the world before returning to Australia.
